Fresh henna cones made to order, using only natural henna powder (ground up leaves from the lawsonia inermis plant), water, sugar and lavender essential oil and that is it! No chemicals or preservatives added.
To keep your stain as awesome, dark and lasting as long as possible, I recommend using my Henna Balm It is a 100% natural skin balm that wont make your stain fade, but will help to keep your stain at its best for longer.
Suitable for sensitive skin and even pregnant women too!
I mix up my henna to order as soon as I am able, although the process is a natural one that can take a day or two, so please be patient when you place an order.
I roll the cones by hand, so sometimes they may look a bit shorter and fatter, other times they are thinner but longer. Don’t worry though, as I weigh each cone out to 15 grams each so that there will be the same amount of henna in each cone.
Making my henna:
To make my henna, I mix my natural Rajistan henna powder with water, sugar and lavender essential oil. I then cover it up and let it sit until the dye has been released.
Because this is a natural process (temperature, humidity, the henna powder used, the recipe, etc, all can contribute), this can take anything from 4-10 hours for the paste to release its dye.
I use this time to roll the cones from cellophane (a plant based plastic. I have tried to look into plastic alternatives but so far no others are as easy to use when it comes to application), and to prepare the postage box that I decorate, and line with shredded tissue paper, add in a free gift, and pack in details on application, aftercare and storing your henna.
I use a fine pin in the tip to ensure a fine tip and making sure that the tip of the cone will not get damaged (This may cause a bit of discolouration in the henna around the pin. The darker henna will still stain just as well as the rest. The pin just causes the henna to oxidise slightly).
I test the paste every hour after 4 hours to see when the paste has released its dye, and to guarantee high stain results. At this point, I mix the paste again and adjust the texture until I am happy with the consistency. Adding sugar dissolved in a little water makes the paste easier to work with, water helps to make the paste looser, while more powder makes it thicker. I aim for a texture similar to a thicker body lotion.
When happy with the texture, I then do a final 5 minute stain test on myself. The stain at first is a strong orange colour. When I am completely satisfied with the results, I use my silicone piping bag to pipe the henna paste in each cone. If for some reason I am not satisfied with the batch of paste, I will start again. I always test my henna before sending it out and if it does not meet my high expectations it will be thrown away (or used to decorate my candles).
Know that you will never get inferior henna paste with a pale stain when you place an order with me.
After all that has been done, I then fold the top of the cone to secure the paste inside.
Finally your henna cones are ready, and I place them straight onto a bed of shredded tissue paper and pack them in a small box, I then walk over to the post office and send it off to you. I use first class stamps so that you will get your henna within a day or two.
Don't like lavender essential oil? I can swap it for cajeput or tea tree essential oil (Just note that these oils are not suitable for pregnant women and only tea tree or lavender is good for younger children or those with sensitive skin), or I can leave out the essential oil all together, although the stain will not be quite as good, and the paste will not last as long (up to 4 days in room temperature, 1 week in the fridge or only a month or two in the freezer).
Diabetic and worried about the sugar? You needn't worry about the sugar content. Sugar molecules are too large to be absorbed through the skin so it won't mess up with your blood sugars!
